About
As a Reflectionist painter and photographer, I find utmost peace in art. Using oils, carbon, ink and earth materials, I create small to large scale abstract, sketch and figurative art pieces on canvas. My photography is similar in effect, in that I am drawn to figures, earthy people and uncovering beauty and emotions through the lens.
The art I create is influenced by the human condition, figure fascination, and my offbeat travels. Mountaineering in Himalaya, backpacking through remote Arctic Circle islands, and the landscapes of ultramarathons have impacted me and my art greatly. The darker side of existence has its influence as well. There is much grief, shame and abandonment within my pieces. With age and acceptance, I believe, these feelings all have a home in my art.
My body of work has been featured in galleries, auctions, and my photography recognized and awarded the National Geographic Editor’s Spotlight Award. My dearest pastime as an artist, is to sit down with another soul who is interested in art, but might not know where to begin or continue onward in their journey and collection. It’s here where love to live – in inviting those into my vantage, and curating custom pieces that live boldly, create wonder, and proudly accentuate a semblance in the seeker.
Being born and raised in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, I feel at peace in the forest, on the river, or on backroads winding through the vineyards in my old Grand Wagoneer. As of late, home is in the Mt. Rainier foothills of Washington state.
